Melissa Wehrley is an assistant instructor in Shaolin Wing Chun under her Sifu Master Chango Noaks at Meng’s of Richmond. She is a mother of two. She originally obtained her LPN license in 2007 and in 2015 she graduated with a RN degree. With graduation she was awarded, The Dr. Marjorie Perrin Human Touch Award for her compassion and focused care. She has spent the past several years working in the correctional setting.

Her Journey at Meng's began when her son, who is on the autism spectrum, was having issues with confidence related to in-school bullying. He joined Meng's and there was a nearly immediate improvement in his behavior, self control and confidence. Watching her son from the sidelines she was inspired. Likewise, with her new prison work environment she didn't feel safe. With encouragement from the instructors she decided to hit the mat. She soon fell in love. Realizing there was far more going on than can be be seen. It wasn't just about punches and kicks. It was a spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental training. She knew this was something she didn't want to live without. She was asked into Leadership Program before she obtained her White Belt and later asked into Blacksash Program. Understanding the reward and enrichment she found with Shaolin Wing Chun there could be no greater gift than to help others on their personal journey.
