Jeevan Sekhar is a martial artist and one of the few quadruple board certified physicians in the country whose fields of study not only include Shaolin wing chun but also internal medicine, hematology, medical oncology, and medical acupuncture. He is one of the founding members of the Reid Cancer Center at Reid Health in Richmond, IN. He is also the founder of Veritas Healing where he practices medical acupuncture and integrative medicine to benefit patients holistically with respect to body, mind, and spirit.
Regarding martial arts, he first started studying Isshinryu Karate as a child where he attained his Shodan or first degree black belt under Sensei John Devine in 1991. After moving away from his original dojo soon thereafter, he did not return to martial arts in earnest until relocating to Richmond, IN in 2011 where he discovered Meng's Martial Arts of Richmond. The broad array of offerings from Qigong and Tai chi to Wushu and weapons through Shaolin Wing Chun fulfilled all of his martial arts interests from the physical to the metaphysical. Meng's Martial Arts has become an integral part of his life. The interactions he has had not only with his Sifu, Master Chango Noaks, and Grandmaster Benny Meng but also with his Kung fu brothers and sisters have allowed him to learn an immense amount about himself, life, and the universe.
He has traveled extensively throughout the United States and the world during his martial arts career competing in numerous national and international tournaments receiving a number of awards. He represented the United States at the International Wushu Federation Inaugural World Open Wing Chun Competition in 2018 not only ranking 5th in the world but also serving as team physician.
In addition, he has received multiple certifications through the Ving Tsun Museum including Sanda, Baat Jaam Dao (the wing chun double knives), and Siu Nim Tao.
He is excited to be part of the international Shaolin Wing Chun Lohan program at Meng’s Martial Arts and the instructors corp in Richmond, IN and hopes to help others also strive to achieve their maximum potential.
